Job Description

The Business Unit Controller role, reporting to the Finance Manager is responsible for the close, forecast and budget processes across the Drinking Water manufacturing facilities. Manages all journal entries, account reconciliations, monthly and quarterly reporting. Prepares financial analysis and metric tracking for operations. Inventory, cost, and manufacturing accounting subject matter expert.

This position can be located in our Downers Grove, Lanark, or Savanna, IL facilities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Providing financial analysis and guidance for the plant manager and leadership teams at the facility

  • Periodic forecasting - account level and labor efficiency forecast development at each location

  • Capital projects - performing analysis on advisability of expenditure via ROI calculations. Ensuring that proper documentation is provided to expenditure committee.

  • Work with plant manager to conceive, analyze, and drive to completion all profit overachievement opportunities

  • Responsbile for setting and maintaining standard costs.

  • Provide counsel on inventory levels at plant and associated exposure risk

  • Actively support the physical inventory counts and cycle counts

  • Period end activities for operations including direct labor and overhead

  • Report on monthly plant performance/variances to all business partners

  • Serve as key member of leadership teams at the facilities.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related discipline required.

  • 5+ years of cost accounting and financial analysis in a manufacturing environment required.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including intermediate to expert Excel skills; experience working with large data sets; able to manipulate and organize effectively and efficiently

  • Knowledge and experience in ERP or MRP business system, with Oracle experience preferred

  • Strong business acumen. Ability to see the big picture as well as the pillars of detail that support it

  • Ability to communicate and influence with stakeholders and senior executives with conviction and empathy
