ROLE OVERVIEW

A Cloud Architect in a Microsoft Azure environment with Databricks is responsible for designing and implementing cloud-based solutions that meet the business requirements of an organization. The BI Cloud Architect will work with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements. They also ensure that the solution is scalable, secure, and cost-effective.

This role ensures that Sirva has a fast, easy, and collaborative analytics platform that allows data scientists, data engineers, and business analysts to work together to analyze data and build machine learning models on a single, unified platform. It is designed to work seamlessly with other services such as Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Power BI.

This role will enforce organization best practices, policies, guidelines, and user support standards. They are also accountable for implementing and overseeing an information security program with sufficient safeguards and protocols to keep cloud data secure. The manager's role is to ensure that all necessary mechanisms and processes are in place for the smooth running of the organization's system.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Design and Architecture
  • Design and implement cloud-based solutions that meet the business requirements of an organization.

  • Policies and Best Practices
  • Enforce organization best practices, policies, guidelines, and user support standards.
  • Accountable for implementing and overseeing an information security program with sufficient safeguards and protocols to keep cloud data secure.
  • Ensure that all necessary mechanisms and processes are in place for the smooth running of the organization's system.

  • Administrative and Support
  • Administer the backend services such as Azure cloud and Databricks.
  • Develop Notebook commands and many other workspace configurations in the control plane and encrypted data at rest.
  • Use Azure Databricks connectors to connect clusters to external data sources outside of your Azure account to ingest data or for storage.
  • Ingest data from external streaming data sources, such as events data, streaming data, IoT data, and more...

WHAT YOU BRING TO SIRVA

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or some other related technical discipline.
  • 5 years experience in IT development and design required.
  • Prior cloud experience is preferred.
  • Advanced experience and knowledge of IT operations, including networking, virtualization, identity, security, business continuity, disaster recovery, data platforms, and governance.
  • Technical knowledge on how to design cloud and hybrid solutions that run on Azure, including compute, network, storage, monitoring, and security. Certification in one of the following technologies is preferred: cloud, mobile, web application development, cloud-native application architecture (i.e. containers, microservices, API management), modern software development techniques like DevOps and CI/CD tool chains (i.e. Jenkins, Spinnaker, Azure developer services, GitHub) and container orchestration systems (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry, Azure Kubernetes Service, GitHub).
