Overview:

Operation of a Mercy patient transport van to include pick-up and delivery of patients consistent with established guidelines of practice. Responsible for the safe and proper transfer of non-ambulatory patients to and from the wheelchair, safe transport of patients via the wheelchair, ambulation assistance to and from the transport van for ambulatory patients, and proper and safe transport of both non-ambulatory and ambulatory patients via the transport van. This position will be contingent upon maintaining a current and valid Class E or equivalent drivers license.
Inspect the transport van daily and report any deficiencies to management promptly. Keep the van clean at all times; keep the vehicle sufficiently fueled.
Performs related duties as assigned; provide exceptional customer service to all in keeping with Mercys mission, values and Service Standards.


Qualifications:

  • Preffered Experience: 1+ year(s) experience driving passengers using a transport van or equivalent
  • Preferred Education: High School Diploma/GED
  • Certifications: BLS
  • Licensure: For all states, a valid driver's license is required. This position will be contingent upon maintaining a current and valid E Class or equivalent driver's license for the states that require it.
  • Other: Competent with transfer and lift techniques and utilization of a gait belt for ambulatory patients; competent with disconnecting wall oxygen and transferring to portable oxygen with accurate liter setting for transport; competent with operating the wheelchair lift and securing system; good customer service skills; ability to communicate clearly by use of UHF radio with dispatch; ensure vehicle is kept clean and serviced appropriately; report all defects to manager.
