Description

The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. We are currently seeking a Survey Analyst for Health Forum in our Chicago office.

Purpose

This position supports AHA's survey and data production by executing the collection of data for an assigned region/territory for Health Forum survey/data products and other initiatives. Key projects include the AHA Online Annual Survey, other special survey projects, and data products/publications.

Essential Functions

  1. Is accountable for data collection for assigned region/territory.
  2. Collaborates with state hospital associations and other constituency partners to develop and execute a project plan for survey communication and data collection.
  3. Works to ensure a high response rate for all surveys by managing the relationship with participants and contacting those who have not responded.
  4. Assists participants in completing online surveys.
  5. Processes paper questionnaires, and works with responding organization to verify data. Completes ad hoc requests for data reports.
  6. Provides a high level of customer support and service; generates and analyzes data reports to evaluate the accuracy and integrity of survey information.
  7. Proofreads and analyzes data tables, reports and survey drafts and compares with previous years' information to identify potential data issues and review for spelling, grammar and content errors.
  8. Notifies survey participants to resolve identified problems (key contacts include hospital administrators, controller or various department executive administrators) then updates files to reflect corrections.
  9. Assists with the development of online and paper survey questionnaire instruments by conducting system testing and making recommendations for online user interface functions, particularly regarding data validation rules and data collection fields.
  10. Supports the distribution of all survey questionnaire communications, including physical and electronic mailings; assists with physical mailing and may oversee temporary staff who assist with mailing(s).
  11. Reviews and updates processing manuals and other documentation.
  12. Researches and updates survey participant database changes, including hospital openings, closures, mergers and acquisitions.
  13. Performs other support functions, including filing, responding to requests via written or verbal correspondence and coordinating the production and distribution of survey and data products.
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in healthcare administration, business administration or a related field is preferred; work experience may serve in place of degree.

  • 1-2 years experience in a team/project based environment; experience with data collection/survey management preferred.

  • General knowledge of health care and hospital operations.

  • General working knowledge of computer based applications including Microsoft Excel and Access, and prior experience using database software necessary to create statistical reports.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.

  • Flexibility and willingness to perform several tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to work with a keen sense of performance and attention to detail.

  • An effective team member is a must.
