The Library Intern will provide basic library support for the Member Services Division of the American College of Surgeons.
This project entails creating a bibliography of hundreds of books in the history of medicine and surgery in three separate American College of Surgeons (ACS) book collections as the first step in making decisions about their proper disposition. Subject analysis and/or classification may be involved as the project proceeds.
The ideal intern will have a strong interest and experience in the Library world. In this internship you will gain hands-on experience working with the American College of Surgeons. You will be paired with a senior staff member and learn the ins and outs of working for a member-based surgical association. We're looking for candidates who are curious, proactive and able to work independently. You'll be most successful if you're comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-capacity environment and have excellent organization skills.
This project will last for about three months with a possible extension.
Hours: Mon.-Thurs. 8:00AM-4:15PM (one to two days per week with flexibility)

Physical/Work Environment- Fast paced with significant people interaction. No lifting over 20 pounds, occasional reaching bending carrying and stooping. Normal office environment with long hours in front of the computer.
