Position/Internship Description

Intern-Volunteer coordinator
Global Community Engagement is a new department at McDonald's Corporation focused on developing stronger, strategic relationships with our restaurants and local communities. As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility department, GCE works closely with Ronald McDonald House Charities, Global Inclusion and Intercultural Management as well as Sustainability to address societal issues through programming and strategic partnerships.

The volunteer coordinator will be responsible for leading a summer volunteer program for Home Office (Oak Brook based) employees while creating a process for expansion to additional markets in the future. The VC will also lead a cross functional planning team to prepare for McDonald's annual McHappy week event later in 2013.


-Coordinate volunteer opportunities for Home Office employees on short Fridays
- Plan Family volunteer days throughout the summer
- Design internal & external web presence for GCE
- Create internal & external brochure showcasing GCE
-Assist Community Programming Manager in collecting data from global markets regarding employee volunteerism and sponsorships
- Assist with the administration of on-line data collection
- Assist with KaBOOM! playground builds including volunteer recruitment and promotions
-Create a global volunteerism calendar for 2013-2014
-Strong communications skills (written & verbal)
-Interest in community relations
-Experience with non-profits preferred
-Strong work ethic and accountability
-Experience with web design a plus
-Willingness/ability to travel
-Must be a rising juinor or senior or enrolled in graduate school
-Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
