GENERAL FUNCTION: The duties of the Engineering Intern shall consist of those jobs necessary, but not limited to, assisting the Distribution Manger/Engineer with drawings, both by hand and computer-generated, and database creation and maintenance in regards to the installation, maintenance, repair, relocation, retirement, testing and operation of water distribution system structures, grounds, and appurtenances as are or may be in use at the Vermilion County Division of Aqua Illinois, Inc. This is a part-time position, working 20 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Proper use of various tools and instruments associated with the work.
2. Record all information pertaining to work completed in a timely manner.
3. Inspection of water main or other related construction projects.
4. Performing other duties as assigned.
Possess a high school diploma or the equivalent and currently enrolled in an Engineering curriculum.
Have the technical, academic and physical ability to perform the duties of this classification. Be able to readily read, understand and accurately follow operating instructions both written and verbal.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in writing; have a personality that allows full cooperation, communication with and assistance to other employees.
Be able to discern between the relative important of assigned duties.
Conscientious in respect for the responsibility to safeguard the public water supply and prevent pollution of area surface waters.
Must have excellent computer skills in database, spreadsheet, e-mail and word processing applications.
